A passenger jet carrying at least 150 people crashed in the south of France on Tuesday. Officials expect no survivors.
Germanwings Flight 9525, an Airbus A320 owned by Lufthansa, went down near Digne in the French Alps. The flight left Barcelona at 10:01 a.m. CET, and was scheduled to arrive in at Düesseldorf International at 11:39 a.m. CET.
The plane dropped out out of the sky while in mid-flight, which isn't common as most accidents occur during takeoff or landing. About 45 minutes after takeoff, the pilots of Flight 9295 reported that there was an emergency before descending rapidly to 5,000 feet..
